The Director-General of Nigerian Maritime Safety Agency, NIMASA, and former Rivers State governorship Candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr Dakuku  Peterside has given incumbent Governor Nyesom  Wike 24 quit months notice.

Dakuku asks Wike to start preparing the handover note of his administration, as he and other like minds would stop at nothing to legitimately end what he described as the governor’s poor governance.

The NIMASA boss said, “We have heard the cries and pains of the people of Rivers State over poor governance and collapse of key sectors in the state. In the next 24 months by the power of God and the people, we will bring to an end the shame and pains this present administration has inflicted on the people.”

Dr Peterside who made this remark during his birthday celebration at Astec Arcum Event Centre in Port Harcourt on Sunday said no matter the political theatrics of the state government, it would not stop the resolve of the people of the state from kicking out the ‘shame’ the administration has brought to the state.

He lamented that from the available records from the Nigerian Bureau of Statistics, key sectors like Education, Health, Security etc have been all time low.

NIMASA boss cautioned that the state government under Governor Wike can buy the media space and threats as he like, but he would not be able to break the resolve of Rivers People to bring an end to the malady in the state.

Earlier, Chibuike Amaechi, the Minister of Transportation and former Governor of Rivers State who was present at ceremony said Dakuku’s reliabilty and loyalty has been tested and found reliable.

He said within the short period Dakuku has headed NIMASA which was a cesspit of corruption, he has been able to remit N21 Billion to the federal goverment.

He said in politics one way to test people’s loyalty is when he or she is out of power because some cannot bear hunger.

The Transport Minister said even as a Minister some people are passing behind him to go through people they presume have closeness to President Muhammadu Buhari for their selfish ends because the President treats everybody equally.

He said when the President shocks them by declaring that “in Chibuike Amaechi is whom I am well pleased”, they will revert back to him.”

Speaking also at the occasion the Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state lamented that despite the lean resources he receives a small oil producing state and as the only APC Governor in the South South his administration has made significant strides as compared to what he sees in Rivers that has quantum resources.

“Dakuku has been able to reverse the ugly image that the previous administration painted that the people of region are men of corruption”

He added that the turnaround Dakuku has affected in NIMASA within a short period attests to his commitment and energy to serve his country.

Governor Obaseki said as the only APC Governor in the South South he cannot wait to see APC take over government in Rivers to institute a good governance.

Prominent men and women of different spectrum of life who attended the birthday celebration include Chief Tonye Graham Dauglas,  Prof Nimi Briggs, Chief Dumo Lulu Briggs, former PDP Governorship Aspirant, Board of and management of NIMASA and others.
