The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Ikwerre local Government council, Chukwuemeka Nwoziri Bishop Best, escapes kidnap or assassination attempt at about 12 am on Sunday.

But his friend was not that lucky.

Nwoziri in a telephone interview said his friend was was mistakenly abducted by six men who came in a hilux van which they parked opposite his residence in Port Harcourt.
He said the six men were armed ith AK 47 rifles.
“One Livinus Amadi said he wanted to change his shoes to slippers in his car outside my gate. As soon as he got out with my two brothers,  six armed men jumped out with AK 47 Rifles from one Hilux that was packed outside my gate and one of them pointed at him and said, ‘This is him’ and they picked him up immediately and drove him in his own car and abandoned the Hilux.
“After they drove off, the two boys who witnessed the incident dashed in to tell us. They drove off with him, but later abandoned him around Diobu axis of Port Harcourt and told him to go to church and give thanksgiving to God for sparing his life while they drove off,” Nwoziri said.
Nwoziri said he has not done  anything wrong to anybody to warrant him being kidnapped or assassinated.
But, he noted that as a man, he is imperfect and those who he has wronged should pardon him.
When contacted, Nnamdi Omoni, the spokesman for the Rivers Police Command said he had not been briefed about the incident as at the time of filing this report.
