There is growing anxiety over whereabouts of Dr Kikere Ramson, the medical doctor who was abducted by unknown gunmen in his consulting room while attending to patients in Oboloma Healthcenter in Asari-Toru local government area of Rivers State last Wednesday.
The whereabouts of the medical doctor remains unknown five days after in spite of the claims by Anti-kidnapping unit and the Special Anti-robbery Squads of the Rivers State Police Command that a manhunt for has been launched for his abductors.
The kidnappers of the medical doctor have also not contacted members of his family, it was gathered.
Rivers state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Princewill Dike who confirmed the incident also condemned the act, saying it is “unnecessarily sacrilegious to abduct a Doctor while attending to patients in his Consulting Room.”
He asked the kidnappers to release the Medical Doctor unconditionally.
Chairman, Rivers state chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr. Datonye Alasia stated that the frequent abduction of medical Doctors in the country is not only unethical but inhuman.
“Why should criminal abduct a medical doctor from his consulting room while attending to patients who direly need Medicare in rural areas where there are large population of the poorest o the poor? We therefore call for his unconditional release.”
He called on security agencies and the state government to ensure his unconditional release.
