Lagos gets new Chief Imam

Alhaji Sulaimon Oluwatoyin Abu has been appointed as the new Chief Imam of Lagos Central Mosque.

Abu, who was turbaned on Friday afternoon at the mosque shortly before the day’s Juma’at prayer is the 10th Chief Imam of Lagos.

He succeeded Alhaji Garuba Akinola Ibrahim, the 9th Chief Imam who passed away on September 24 at the age of 79.

Abu was turbaned by the mosque’s Head of Missioners, Sheikh Tijaniy Gbajabiamila and another Imam, Mujitaba Giwa.

The new Chief Imam is a graduate of Electrical Engineering from the prestigious University of Ilorin and well learned in matters of Islam.
