A former governor of Kogi State and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, CON, has expressed confidence in the ability of the newly inaugurated National Executive Committee, NEC of the party under the chairmanship of Prince Uche Secondus, to achieve total reconciliation of members and lead the party to success in future elections.
Idris made this known Thursday in Lokoja, the State capital at the sideline of activities marking the 70th birthday celebration of Dr. Stephen Olorunfemi, a former Finance Commisdioner in the State.
The former Governor said with the peaceful conduct of its elective national convention last weekend, the party is more than ever before ready to return to power both at the national and state levels. He therefore called on all Nigerians to join hands with the party and vote her back to power.
“The new leadership has started well. We all need to hands to ensure success. We must live in love, forgiveness and tolerance. With the way the new leadership is working on reconciling everybody, moving round the country, I am optimistic we will get it right.”
Idris also said Kogi state governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello is chasing shadow in the name of investigating the past PDP administrations in the state, noting that the panel of inquiry the governor set up to investigate his administration as the former governor of Kogi State and that of Captain Idris Wada have not seen the light of the day.
“What have they been able to see, they are chasing shadows, when the time comes the people of Kogi State will be able to tell where they belong. We ran an open, transparent and responsible government. I am not afraid of their probe.” He said adding that in 2019 the people of Kogi State will decide who is their leader.
He said the PDP has learnt from its mistakes and is determined to put its acts and wares together to avoid breaking them again.
“Because we are human beings we are bound to make mistakes, and as a human being you must accept that. There is no perfect human being except God. So we should accept that we have made mistakes.
“Bello administration in Kogi State has failed the people. When he came on board the expectations of people were very high, unfortunately they have failed woefully and the people are ready to vote for PDP again.”
