A 45 year-old driver, Omodun Ipenko, who allegedly defrauded his victim of N210, 000, was on Thursday docked before an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State.
Ipenko of no fixed address is facing trial on a three-count charge of felony, obtaining money under false pretence and advance fee fraud, gaccordingj to e News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.
The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the accused on Oct. 29 at about 4.00 p.m at New Garage, Okitipupa, conspired with others at large to commit felony.
Orogbemi said that the accused defrauded Olanrewaju Ayodeji by collecting N210, 000 under false pretences of supplying him a fairly used Fiat vehicle.
The prosecutor said that the accused absconded before he was later arrested by the police.
Orogbemi said that the offences were contrary and punishable under Sections 516, 390 (3) and 419 of Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge levelled against him.
The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted the accused bail of N400, 000 and
a surety in like sum.
Ayeomoni said that the surety must produce evidence of one year tax clearance.
He added that the surety must be resident within the court jurisdiction and have landed property in Okitipupa as part of the bail conditions.
The magistrate adjourned the case until Dec.15 for further hearing.
