Atiku Abubakar has reacted to the statement of Presidential Spokesman Femi Adeshina to the effect that the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is clutching at a straw because he revealed that President Buhari was at a time denied entry to the United States is unfortunate. The spontaneity and the issue the statement seeks to make out of a harmless statement, according to Atiku’s media men, further betrays the panic in their camp.

The media office argued that the former Vice President was only buttressing a point and he chose to employ fact from his immediate environment as well as a mention of the current Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and “this does not amount to clutching at a straw because he isn’t drowning. If anything, he is gathering massive appeal around the nation and his goodwill is on a persistent rise. We know those who are clutching at pebbles.”

They argued further: “It should however be noted that if Vice President Atiku ever needed to clutch at anything, why would he choose a straw when he can hold on to an oak of Mainagate, Barugate and the endless intrigues that has surrounded this supposed ‘administration of integrity’

“However, Adesina should rest assure that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is a seasoned, refined and a modern politician whose singular motive for wanting to throw his hat into the ring is to secure a better future for Nigerian’s teeming youths who have since been plunged into despondency and his preoccupation for now is listening to them like he always does as well as proffering solutions so that Nigerian youths don’t ever have to suffer a tragic end crossing the Mediterranean in search for greener pastures or as slaves in Libya or any other country for that matter, again.”
