Hon. Segun Dokun Odebunmi representing Ogo Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, National Assembly, Nigeria has officially decamped from Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the rulling party, All Progressive Congress, APC.
Honourable Odebunmi, who is the only PDP federal law maker from Oyo State led about 5000 loyalists to APC.
Speaking, Odebunmi said that he was committed to the peoples Democratic Party right from the day he joined the party in 1999, but the unfair treatment and injustice meted out to party members in his constituency forced him out of the party. He said, “I have decided to go to where my people want me to go. I am not desperate about political office, but I hate injustice. If people who suffered for the party can be treated like this at the beginning, how are we sure we will not be totally sidelined later,  I have consulted widely too and the the options is to leave the party and the only credible alternative is APC”.

The lawmaker also declared his unflinching support for president Muhammad Buhari’s administration stressing that the president is working round the clock to ensure that Nigeria is better than how he met it.

According to him, “His giant step towards economic recovery is yielding positive step”, urging Nigerians to be patient with the President Buhari whom he believed would not fail the nation.

Also speaking at the event, a former member of the state PDP committee, Chief Isaac Olawale Alatishe who resigned his appointment few weeks ago said, the reconciliatory move by the elders of the PDP would have been better if those who are returning to the party are sincere.

He said, “Those who returned to the party were seen as lords in the party. They don’t have regards for us, those of us who stayed back and hold the party together. It has gotten to a point that we have to be taking orders from the returnees. We are no longer comfortable with that arrangement. They are hijacking everything, and instead of going to any form of war or rancourous situation, we decided to leave the party and we told our leader Hon Odebunmi that he should also leave”.
