India has no plan to close its embassy in Pyongyang or cut trade with North Korea as part of the international community’s measures to pressure the country.

Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said Wednesday that the trade with North Korea and the operation of India’s diplomatic mission in Pyongyang had been discussed with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who is in India on a visit, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.

“[We] have discussed the issue of DPRK [Democratic People’s Republic of Korea]. We discussed the matter of trade reduction and closing of embassies. As far as our trade with DPRK is concerned, it is minimal.

“As far as [the] embassy is concerned, our embassy is very small there. But our embassy is there,” Swaraj said.

Swaraj said that Tillerson understood her position on North Korea, appreciated the fact that trade with Pyongyang was scarce and the Indian diplomatic mission was small.

The situation on the Korean Peninsula has aggravated in recent months as Pyongyang continued to launch missile and nuclear tests, despite warnings of the international community and, in particular, the United States.

In September, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution that imposed a new batch of sanctions on North Korea’s officials, economy, industry and military.
