An online newspaper, StraightNews has commenced operations.

Published by Blesrael Ventures, StraightNews has head office at 49 Aka Itiam Road in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Led by a seasoned journalist and a one-time state Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Council, Israel Umoh, the newspaper is a potpourri of concise news, analytical opinions and thorough investigative stories.

According to Umoh, “the newspaper promotes journalism ethics bereft of prejudice, stimulates businesses, galvanizes people toward meaningful development and insists on accountable governance.”

He stated that “it is the vision of the newspaper to practise development journalism; our cardinal objective is to provide a platform for people to tell their stories and to defend the rights and privileges of people while our goal is to give a voice to the voiceless.’’

He has, therefore, called on government ministries and parastatals, philanthropic organisations, corporate bodies and public-spirited individuals to like and join the newspaper in building an egalitarian society for this generation and generations yet unborn.
