The Police in Rivers have appealed to the public to provide useful information that could lead to arrest of eight wanted persons.

The Spokesman of the Police Command in the state, DSP Nnamdi Omoni,  told the News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) in Port Harcourt that the command had mapped out strategies to arrest the suspects.

The command had last week declared eight persons wanted for their alleged involvement in the murder of ten persons in Mgbuoshimi, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

Omoni, however, said police could not work in isolation, but in collaboration with the public to achieve success in crime prevention.

“Such information could be given to the Commissioner of Police,” he said

The spokesman assured that the information would be treated with utmost confidentiality.

“Not when you have land dispute with somebody, you come and inform the police that he is an armed robbery suspect.

“The police will come after you for giving false information.

“Once you have give police information, you keep your mouth shut, rather than spread it, or even tell the suspects,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 10 persons including a woman were killed by gunmen in Mgbuoshimi in Obio/Akpor local government area.
