A former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido has explained why he cannot move to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
While reiterating his determination to remain in PDP, Lamido said “no matter how hard I try, if I move to All Progressive Congress (APC), my soul will not follow me.”
Lamido added that without the PDP members who joined the APC, the party would not have defeated PDP in the last general elections.
Lamido made the comments when he met with ex-PDP Speakers of States Houses of Assembly forum on Thursday in Abuja.
He also noted that Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has the constitutional right to contest the 2019 presidency on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP even though the party had zone the presidential ticket to the North.
The former governor who said this while commenting on Fayose Thursday’s declaration that he will run for the 2019 presidency, added that it was the constitutional right of the governor to contest like every other Nigerians.
He also advised PDP members to be courageous in the face of what he described as “persecution”.
“We need people to be courageous.”
The former Minister of Foreign Affairs said that 2019 would be a defining moment for Nigeria.
He also called on the leadership of PDP to ensure that the party’s December national convention would be free and fair so that anybody that emerged as chairman would enjoy the required support from all party’s members.
