Nigeria to have thunderstorm, moderate rains on Friday- NiMet

dThe Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy weather condition over central states of the country on Friday morning, with chances of thunderstorm activities over Abuja, Mambila plateau and Jalingo, Makurdi, Lafia and Yola axis.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO) on Thursday in Abuja also predicted day and night temperatures in the range of 27 to 32 and 17 to 23 degrees celsius.

It stated that the central states would experience chances of scattered thunderstorms activities over Jos, Lafia, Abuja Kaduna, Ilorin and Minna axis in the afternoon and evening period.

The agency predicted that southern states would experience morning thunderstorm and moderate rain with prospects of moderate rains over Ondo, Shaki, Iseyin, Ibadan, Abeokuta, and Akure in the afternoon and evening hours.

It also predicted afternoon and evening moderate rains over Enugu, Awka, Umuahia, Enugu, Port-Harcourt, Eket, Calabar and Owerri with day and night temperatures of 28 to 30 and 22 to 23 degrees celsius.

According to NiMet, northern states will experience thundery activities and light rains in the morning, while partly cloudy to cloudy conditions are expected over the region in the afternoon and evening.

“The Northern region is also expected to have day and night temperatures in the range of 32 to 38 and 20 to 25 degrees Celsius during the forecast period.

“There is likelihood for rainfall activities to affect the country in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted.
