Man docked for stealing employer’s 67 cartons of Gala, biscuits

A 21-year-old man, Rotimi Adesanya, who allegedly stole 67 cartons of Gala sausage rolls and Biscuit worth N75,680, on Thursday appeared in a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State.

The accused, whose address is unknown, is facing a charge of stealing.

Adesanya allegedly stole the items on Sept. 22 at Ikoga Market, Mowo, Badagry, according to Police Prosecutor Akpan Ikem.

He said the the items were given to the accused to deliver to a customer but diverted them.

“The accused was to deliver the cartons of sausage rolls and biscuits to a customer who had paid for them, but he took them to a nearby street and started distributing them to the public.”

The offence contravened Section 285 of the Criminal law of Lagos State, 2011.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the section stipulates a three-year jail term for offenders.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Ruling on the bail application of the accused, Magistrate Jimoh Adefioye granted him accused in the sum of N100,000 and
a surety in like sum.

The case was adjourned until Oct. 5 for mention.
