Just as Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose was busy declaring his presidential ambition in Abuja, Nigeria’s anti graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission moved in to arrest his Accountant General and Commissioner of Finance on Thursday.
The anti graft agency said the arrest of the two top officials of Ekiti State government followed their refusal to respond to previous invitations.
While confirming the arrests of the two men, EFCC said in a short statement on its website that “The duo of the Accountant-General of Ekiti State and Ekiti State Commissioner of Finance have been picked up by the EFCC. Their arrest follows their refusal to honour an invitation by the Commission to explain their roles as alleged in a petition in respect of bail-out funds released to the state.
