Rivers Security Second to None–Wike

Governor Wike, delivering his soeech

Governor Nyesom Wike has expressed delight about the superb security situation in Rivers State.

He said this when he delivered a speech to welcome delegates to this year’s Guild of Editors Conference in Port Harcourt.

He said it is because the state is safe, that the editors came to hold their event the second time. In his words: “Having hosted the 12th edition, I did not expect to do so but when I was approached by your President, Funke Egbemode, I asked her, ‘is Rivers safe?’She said ‘yes,’then I said I was ready to host you.”

He said with glee that it is because of the good security measures in place that Anglican Bishops, Nigerian Bar Association held their conferences here and now the editors too. He added that visitors are the best emissaries who will tell others what they have seen.

He said further that the editors who were on facility tour in the state last year will have another opportunity to see where he was the other time and assess what he has accomplished more.
