Breaking: Resident doctors call off strike

Professor Adewole: Nigeria’s minister of health

The National Association of Resident Doctors, NARD, early Thursday morning announced the suspension of its two week’s old strike which has crippled activities in public hospitals across Nigeria.

The suspension of the strike follows a series of meeting between officials of the Federal Government and representatives of NARD.

Chairman of NARD, University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan chapter, Segun Olaopa who announced the suspension of the strike said “the decision was reached following appeals from the public that the doctors should give the federal government more time to meet their demands.”

But he added that the association will meet in two weeks time to determine how far the Federal Government has gone in addressing the issues which led to the strike.
