NPFL: El-Kanemi Warriors beat MFM FC to finish 6th

El-Kanemi Warriors: finished 6th in the league

El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club of Maiduguri on Saturday defeated MFM FC of Lagos 2-1 to finish sixth in the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the hosts scored through Ibrahim Babangida in the 7th minute of the match.

Stanley Okoro drew the visitors level with a penalty kick in the 37th minute, while Yahuza Adamu restored the Warriors’ lead five minutes later through a penalty kick also.

Anthony Obaseki, El-Kanemi Warriors’ Media Officer, while reacting to the victory said the result was delightful as it helped them to finish with 56 points from 38 matches.

Hassan Muhammad, an El-Kanemi Warriors fan, he and many others were hopeful the club would on its performances next season.

Muhammad also expressed joy with the peaceful environment league matches were played in the state.

“This is the first time in many years that El-Kanemi Warriors have been able to complete a season in Maiduguri. It is a good thing for us,’’ he said.

NAN reports that El-Kanemi Warriors had in the past few years played their home matches outside the state due to the Boko Haram insurgency
