A commercial motorcyclist, Uche Peter,27, was on Friday arraigned in ajn Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State, for alleged dangerous driving and injuring one Dare Aransiola.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that Peter denied committing the offence, while the Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000, with one surety in like sum.
The defendant was docked on a three-count charge of dangerous driving, driving without driver’s licence and driving an unregistered motorcycle on the highway.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, said the accused on Aug. 21 around 3.30 p.m. along Okitipupa-Aye Road, drove an unregistered Qlink motorcycle dangerously.
He said the accused that had no driver’s licence hit Aransiola who was going to his farm which caused several degrees of injuries and bodily harm on him.
The prosecutor said that the offences were contrary to and punishable under Sections 6, 10(3) and 11(2), Federal Highway Act, Cap.F13, Vol.VI, Laws of Federation of Nigeria 2004.
The case was adjourned until Sept.20 for further hearing.
