Gov. Rauf Aregbesola of Osun says the state is collaborating with the African Nations Development Programme (ANDP) to build 5,000  units of two- bedroom bungalows  in the state.

Aregbesola disclosed this during a visit to his office by ANDP representatives on Wednesday in Osogbo.

The governor, represented by Mr Akintunde Akinajo, the Commissioner for Lands and Physical Planning, said  the housing units would be built on  400 hectares   of  land in Ede, Iwo, Ikirun, Ilesa and Ila-Orangun.

The governor said that series of meetings had been held with traditional rulers and other relevant stakeholders in the five selected communities to make the project all inclusive and a success.

He noted that all required documents  on the selected sites had been made available  to ANDP.

While appreciating the ANDP for choosing Osun for the development project, Aregbesola assured the body  of total support in  the implementation of the project.

In his remarks, the Nigeria Director of ANDP, Mr Eze Ifeanyichukwu,  said that the 5,000 housing units  would also include hospitals, schools, police stations, markets  and other  facilities for the less privileged.

Ifeanyichukwu said that with the support of the state government, the project would commence immediately after the ground breaking ceremony.
