Man, 37, pleads guilty to theft

A 37-year-old, Tunde Isiaka, who stole a pair of shoes, a battery and an ignition key at privhate residence in the night, on Monday pleaded guilty to the crime at an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that the accused, who resides in Ebute Meta, was arraigned on a charge of stealing.

Police Prosecutor Maria Dauda told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 1 at 10.00 p.m. at No. 1, Denton St., Ebute Meta.

She said the accused stolen a pair of shoes valued at N3,500, a car battery valued at N30,000 and a N7,000 ignition key, property of Mr Adamu Shehu.

The offences, Dauda noted, contravened Section 287 of the Criminal law of Lagos State, 2015 which carries a seven-year imprisonment.

In her ruling, the Magistrate, Mrs O.O.A Fowowe-Erusiafe, said the accused should be kept behind bars and adjourned the case until Sept. 7 for facts and sentence.
