Lagos bye-election: APC candidate emerges

Mr Naheem Adams has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Sept.30 Lagos House of Assembly bye-election for Eti-Osa constituency.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the election was to fill the vacant seat following the death Mr Kazeem Alimi on July 18.

The party’s Assistant Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr Abiodun Salami, told NAN on Tuesday in Lagos that Adams emerged at the party’s primary on Monday.

He said the candidate polled a total of 294 votes to defeat five other candidates at the primary.

According to Salami, the primary which outcome was accepted by all aspirants, was peaceful.

He said 384 persons were accredited for the primary, while 370 votes were cast with only 14 votes voided.

“At the end of the exercise, Mr Naheem Adams polled 294 votes to emerge winner out of the six aspirants.

“The aspirants embraced one another after the election and congratulated the winner in the true spirit of brotherliness,” he said.

Salami said the APC was the only party that meant well for the masses and urged the people of the state to continue to support it. (NAN)
