The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Idiat Adebule, has urged Nigerians to show love and ensure peaceful co-existence by shunning all forms of divisive tendencies that could threatens national unity.

Adebule gave the advice in her Sallah message in Lagos to felicitate with Muslims on the celebration of the 2017 Eid-el-Kabir.

She also urged Nigerians to show love to neighbours at all times as a way of upholding the significance of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

According to her, the lessons embedded in the celebration is about God’s mercy and love for mankind as demonstrated with the replacement of a ram for a son by Allah.

”This shows great love of the Almighty Allah for mankind.

“We ought to emulate this act and show kindness and love to others by ensuring peaceful co-existence and shun all forms of divisive tendencies that can threaten our national unity, ” she said.

Adebule urged Lagos residents to continue to support and pray for the success of Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode-led administration, saying that it would bring new reforms that would impact on the lives of the common man.

She also urged Nigerians to continue to support and pray for good health of President Muhammadu Buhari

Also, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu (Lagos Central Senatorial District-APC), in her message, said that the celebration was a call to put aside personal interests, desires and ambitions and promote national interest.

According to her, there is need to promote national unity by shunning divisive comments for the good of the families, communities and the country in general.

”I congratulate the Muslim faithful in the Lagos Central Senatorial District, Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole on the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.

”The festival, in honour of Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God, is symbolic of our willingness to give up the things we value, in obedience to God’s will.

”Marked by charitable giving, we must at this time, remember the poor and needy in our society.

”This season is a reminder that we must put aside our personal interests, desires and ambitions, shunning divisive comments for the greater good of Family, Community and Country.

”I urge us all to adhere to the tenets of faith, living peacefully with all our brothers, regardless of religion, in furtherance of peace of our great nation,” Tinubu said.
