The Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Sen Babafemi Ojudu has been appointed as Chairman of a team of party top shots to monitor the party’s primary in Anambra on Saturday.

A letter issued at the APC headquarters yesterday stated that his “selection is in consideration of his strength of character and track record”

It is believed that Ojudu will be a good trouble shooter in Anambra APC. The APC primary election was earlier fixed for 19 August, but the party changed it.
As explained by the National Publicity Secretary of APC, Malam Bolaji Abdulahi, the postponement was necessitated by logistic issues. The party had cleared 12 governorship aspirants to participate in the primary election.

However, the decision to shift the primary, according to Thisday might not be unconnected with the disagreement of the party’s delegates’ list which ought to have been given to each of the aspirants on their return of nomination forms but was not ready.

Elombah.com gathered that a group led by the state Secretary wrote a petition to the National Chairman, John Oyegun alleging that the state chairman, Barr Emeka Ibe had conspired with one of the aspirants to doctor the delegate list. The state chairman was also accused of not carrying other members of the executive along.

The source said that the state Secretary and the legal adviser have been invited to Abuja to meet with the National Chairman over the petition.

The petition is asking the APC leadership to investigate their claims and suspend Barr Emeka Ibe as well as screen out the aspirant involved in the delegate list scandal.

However, the Anambra APC denied the story by the elombah.com, saying it is “a creation of a fertile imagination without any scintilla of truth,” adding that it is “false in material particulars and should be ignored completely by members of the public as the SWC in Anambra APC has never enjoyed the level of bonding within them at the moment.”

“APC remains an organized and dynamic party with a formula for approaching most issues ad programmes. Members of the State Working Committee of APC in Anambra State are in unity and have acted in unison on all matters relating to the running of the party, including the discharge of its role pertaining to the conduct of APC Primaries for the November 18, 2017 polls.

“Neither our State Secretary, nor any other officer of the chapter has been invited individually by anyone in the National Executive ,or in the National Secretaraiat as alleged in the report.

“Rather, the entire Anambra State Working Committee is currently attending a strategic session in Abuja, geared towards finalizing the schedule of activities leading to APC victory in the November 18 polls, while streamlining modalities for converting Anambra State into an APC- governed state.

“Our great party warns mischief makers from Government House Awka to face the issues of governance and inter-party wrangling facing their platform currently being adjudicated in many courts, as they prepare their handover notes to make the take-off of the new government manned by APC easier from March next year.
