An Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday ordered the remand of a 25-year-old man, Shafiu Mustapha, for alleged burglary and stealing.

The Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Ajibade, ordered the remand pending advice of the Director of Public Prosecution, as requested by the prosecutor.
No plea was taken and Ajibade adjourned the case until Sept. 5 for hearing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the defendant and his accomplice, now at large, committed the offence on Aug. 21 at about 4:00p.m. at Igbehin street in Ado-Ekiti.
Akinwale alleged that the accused and his accomplice, broke into the shop of the complainant, Abubakry Haniyat and stole eleven and half bags of rice valued at N184,000, and four cartons of groundnut oil valued at N26,000.
He further told the court that the accused also allegedly stole 11 cartons ‎of chicken maggi valued at N85,800, and five litres of groundnut oil valued at N8,700.
The prosecutor put the value of stolen items at N304,500.
He said the offences contravened Sections 413 (1) (2) and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap C16 Vol.1 Laws of Ekiti State 2012.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the accused in prison, pending the legal advice from office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
