Just in: Buhari cancels FEC meeting, to receive SGF/NIA DG probe report

The every Wednesday,  weekly meeting of Nigeria’s cabinet, popularly known as the Federal Executive Council, (FEC) will not hold today, the Presidency has said.

No reason was given for the cancellation of the meeting which would have been the first to be attended by President Muhammadu Buhari  after his return to the country after spending 103 days on medical vacation in the United Kingdom.

The cabinet meeting held every Wednesday under the leadership of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who was designated an Acting President while the President was away.

While announcing the cancellation of the meeting, Femi Adesina, spokesperson for the President however said  Buhari  receive the Report of the investigation committee into the allegations against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayo Oke, headed by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, at 12 noon, in his office on Wednesday.

The statement read, “The meeting of the Federal Executive Council will not hold today.

“President Muhammadu Buhari, will however, receive the Report of the investigation committee into the allegations against the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayo Oke, headed by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, at 12 noon, in his office.”

It will be recalled that the President has been operating from an office in his residence since  he resumed work after the over three months medical vacation on Monday.

The Presidency said this was because his main office is undergoing renovation following invasion of rats while he was away.
