As part of activities marking its 35th reunion, the 1982 set of St. Peter Claver’s College (SPCC) Aghalokpe, in Delta State is set to give back to its famous alma mater by constructing a fully-equipped computer center in the school. The string of activities lined up for the celebration will take place between Friday 18 and Sunday 20 August, 2017 in Warri and Aghalokpe respectively. Dr. Felix Ekpo, Chairman of the organising committee, disclosed this in a meeting held at kayriot hotel in Warri.

According to him, this is the second time the ’82 set would be having a reunion, having held its maiden edition in 2007. Ekpo also said that this year’s reunion is special because of its inclusive nature and international flavour.

“Members of our set are coming in from three continents for this great event. They are coming in from the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom for this reunion. It’s an august occasion holding in August, and a time to recall fond memories of our school days as well as give back to our alma mater, “Ekpo said.

Ekpo also disclosed that works on the proposed computer center had started, adding that the foundation stone-laying ceremony will take place on Saturday, 19 August 2017 under the watchful eyes of the President- General of the SPCC Aghalokpe Old Boys Association, Professor Patrick Igbigbi of Delta State University and the spiritual guidance of the school principal, Rev. Father Christopher Ogaga. The Catholic Bishop of Warri Diocese, Bishop Okeoghene Afareha will perform the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the computer center. A courtesy call on the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Orhue 1, Rtd Major General Felix Mujakperuo (CFR,mni) at his palace in Orerokpe and a novelty football match are also parts of the activities marking the reunion.

There will also be a flag-stop at Eku, where a member of the class of ’82,Pastor Freeborn Ukpede will equally do a ground-breaking ceremony for the Sunshine Mission House, a US-based medical outreach to Nigeria.

Situated on the Eku-Abraka Expressway, SPCC Aghalokpe, an all-boys Catholic college was founded in 1950, and is famous for producing excellent students who have had distinguished careers in both the public and private sectors in Nigeria and overseas. The fourth secondary school to be established in the old Warri and, later, Delta Province, it was one of the first schools of choice in the then Mid-west region and later, Bendel State.
