The Complete Woman, an NGO, has announced plans to train teenage girls on skill acquisition in Jikwoyi, Orozo, Karu and Karshi communities of the FCT.

The President of the NGO, Mrs Ade Oyinleye made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday says in Abuja.

She fielded questions ahead of the 3rd Annual Teen Girls conference scheduled for Aug. 18.

“Parents should allow their children learn other things during the holiday aside academics.

“They should engage them so that they won’t be susceptible to molestation or other social vices.

“An idle mind is the devil’s workshop; teens too should make good use of their time by engaging in positive things so that they won’t regret in future,’’ she said.

Oyinleye said the purpose of the annual event was teen girls to learn, interact and have fun, adding they will also be introduced to mentoring club during the conference.

“We leverage on the holiday time so that they can learn other things apart from academic work.

“Most of them get bored during the holidays, some have to attend lessons by force, some roam around streets unnecessarily but we kind of try to engage them and allow them share their thoughts, learn from other people’s experiences and learn a skill too.

“Last year they had a two-week intensive course on makeup and ‘gele’, but this year we intend teaching them snack and other skills and how they can earn some money from it.”

She noted that no knowledge would be wasted, adding that it can be needed later in life.

Oyinleye said the training was to identify their areas of interest and help them develop such interest.

NAN recalls that the NGO started in 2012 with the passion to educate women and girl child discover and developing their inherent potentials through capacity building.
