The National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA), says the U.S. Government has committed $85 million dollars for the conduct of a major HIV survey in the country.
Dr Sani Aliyu, NACA’s Director-General, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said the exercise would commence early 2018 and concluded by December 2018, adding that it would be the largest HIV survey in the world when completed.

“The survey will enable us to get clearer picture of HIV burden in Nigeria; the hotspots and where we need to target.

“We need to know exactly where we are for better planning and for the future.
“It is something that should have been done long time ago, our partners have realised its importance, ”he said.

He said NACA was being re-positioning with a view to winning the minds of the donour partners.
“We are in the process of restructuring the agency, we have close working relationship with our partners now, they believe in us and in what we want to do.

“They know that we are setting in place a system and processes that will stop us from having the issues we had in the past,’’he said.
