Osinbajo attends eight-day prayer for Aregbesola’s mother

 

The eight-day prayer  for the late mother of  Gov.  Rauf Aregbesola of  Osun, Saratu, was held on Tuesday in Ilesa with Acting President Yemi Osinbajo in attendance, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)  reports.

Delivering a  sermon at the prayer session, Dr Taofeeq Abdulhammed,  the Chief Imam of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, said the deceased  lived a good  life worthy of emulation.

Abdulhammed,  who noted that life has a beginning and an end,  urged all humans  to live their life in the fear of God.

The cleric also urged those in power to see their position as a privilege and  a call to serve  humanity.

Abdulhammed further  prayed for the quick recovery of  President Muhammadu Buhari.

Dignitaries at the event included  Governors Akinwumi Ambode (Lagos State),  Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti State), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo State),  Abiola Ajimobi(Oyo State),  Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna State) and  Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara).

Others were  the Deputy Speaker of  the House of Representatives,  Mr Lasun Yusuf, the Alaafin of Oyo,  Oba Lamidi Adeyemi,  former interim National Chairman of All Progressives  Congress, Chief Bisi Akande and  Minister  of  Mines and Steel Development,  Dr Kayode Fayemi.

The governor’s mother, who died  on Aug. 1, was aged 84 years.
