Governor Obiano (second left) speaks with the Priests during his visit to Ozobulu church scene of the crime
The Federal Government has promised to unmask and deal decisively with perpetrators of Sunday’s killings of worshippers at the St. Philips Catholic Church, Ozubulu, in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra.
Minister of Interior, retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau, made the pledge in a statement signed by the Director Press in the Ministry, Willie Bassey on Monday in Abuja.
The minister condemned in strongest terms the killings and assured that all hands will be on deck to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Dambazau commiserated with Gov. Willie Obiano, the Ozubulu community, families who lost their loved ones, the injured, and the entire people of Anambra.
He described the incidence as a wicked and cowardly act which the Police and other security agencies were working hard to unravel.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that unidentified gunmen had attacked the church in Anambra in the early hours of Sunday, killing scores of worshippers while many others were injured in the attack.
President Muhammadu Buhari had condemned the incident describing it as “an appalling crime against humanity and unspeakable sacrilege.’’
