Agbaso: APGA wants him arrested

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has urged the Police to arrest Chief Martins Agbaso for allegedly breaking into the National Secretariat in Abuja.

National Chairman of the party, Mr Victor Oye, made the call while addressing newsmen on Monday in Abuja.

He alleged that Agbaso, who is laying claim to the chairmanship of the party, removed N19 million and sensitive documents from his office when he (Agbaso) and his group broke into the secretariat on Thursday.

Oye said that the case was reported to the police, adding that Agbaso would answer to the law.

“The real owners of the party are here to consolidate on the gains we have achieved.

“What happened on Thursday last week was shameful, intolerable, wicked and illegal, but for us, they came when we were not there because we had closed from the office.

“`They broke into my office and took away N19 million which was saved to conduct primary election and other important documents.

“These people are nothing but hoodlums, criminals and their actions are intolerable. We are the real owners of APGA.

“The case is pending before the Police; they will surely appear before police and get back our N19 million and other sensitive documents they stole.

“They said they took it away, but no, they stole it,” he said.

Oye expressed optimism that APGA would win the Nov. 18 governorship election in Anambra, adding that the party had gone beyond a political party and had become a “movement’’.

He said that Anambra people were more concerned with the return of the incumbent governor, Willie Obiano, because he had performed “excellently’’.

According to him, under Obiano, workers receive their salaries promptly and pensioners receive gratuity accurately and up to date.

Oye said the court judgement which Agbaso relied on was a fallacy and that he (Oye) was suspended from the party as claimed by Agbaso.

“ I have taken in charge of this party since June 5, 2015 till date; just leave the charlatans and what they say. They want to bamboozle the people. What they are looking for is money.’’

He said that the judgement Agbaso was flaunting was granted in error and that he was not joined in the suit.

According to the chairman, the court in Nnewi made it clear that Martins Agbaso will not organise the primary anywhere and anytime in Anambra.

“I was not joined in the case, my name is not there. I am not a defendant or a plaintiff and so was Agbaso.

“So, where did he get the judgment from to be acting national chairman when he was not even in the line of succession in the party?

“He is not a member of APGA, let alone being a member of NWC. Go to the Constitution of APGA and you will see it; there was no convention for my removal, so what are we talking about?’’ he said.

Oye explained that Mandamus was an order given by the court to compel someone who had disobeyed previous order to comply.

He said that what Agbaso did was “like somebody coming to say a man is not the husband of his wife and then, he will say it is an order of mandamus’’.

He insisted that APGA was not in any crisis, and that nothing would to affect its chances in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra. (NAN)
