Police: confirm the beheading of some people in the rural village

Many residents of Ibaa community in the Emohua local government area of Rivers State have fled from their homes following clashes between rival cult gangs which left five persons persons beheaded in the rural village late last Friday.

An unconfirmed number of people were also killed in the attack.

While confirming the beheading of some persons in Ibaa community on the evening  of  last Friday, Nnamdi Omoni,  spokesman for the Rivers state Police Command: “When we got the information we made immediately deployed our tactical unit our command to the community to compliment the Joint Task Force, JTF, that is already on ground to restore calm in the area.

“What happened on Friday night was a cult gang clash by rival cult groups,”  Omoni said. He however refused to confirm the speculation that up to eight persons were beheaded in the cult attack.

It would be recalled that Ibaa community has been ravaged by cult gangs clash over the years.

This necessitated the deployment of police and soldiers  in the community for over eight years.
