Senator Magnus Abe and some National Assembly members of All Progressive Congress in Rivers State are fuming over the manner the leadership of the party conductedits Congresses in  the 23 local  government areas of the state on Saturday.

Rivers APC had announced its decision to conduct Local government congress after a stakeholders meeting held in Port Harcourt in a press statement by State Chairman of the party, Davies Ibiamu Ikanya. He said added that the venues and locations of where the congress will be conducted in the 23 Local government areas of Rivers state have been communicated to those concerned.

However, Senator Magnus Abe, representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District told journalists on Saturday that he was not invited to the stakeholders meeting. He also alleged that details of the modalities for the conduct of the congress were hidden from some bigwigs of the party including him and other members of the National Assembly.

He said, “We got information that leaders of the party were meeting and we went there only for us to get there and found out the meeting has ended. Then someone said no, that they relocated the meeting to the party secretariat. Here we are at the party secretariat. No one is here. It is under lock and key.

“But you ask how can leaders of a party be holding a meeting and members of the party at the National Assembly are not in attendance? The leaders who came supervise the election were hold up in a hotel in capital city of Port Harcourt.

It was gathered however that the loyalists of the Transport Minister, Chibuike Amaechi are already emerging as delegates arising from the Congresses, thus confirming that the political crisis between Senator Abe and former Governor Amaechi is far from being over.
