The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Bolanle Amupitan, on Monday paid the hospital bills of some sick children at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Lokoja.

She paid the bills during a visit to congratulate the new Chief Medical Director of the Centre on his recent confirmation and to further strengthen the relationship between her ministry and the FMC.
Earlier in her remarks, Mrs Amupitan thanked the management of the FMC, Lokoja for always responding promptly to medical cases from the ministry.
She reiterated the commitment of the state government to settle hospital bills of indigents and children from orphanages admitted at the hospital.
“We will encourage you to continue handling cases from us with the same promptness you have been doing, and the Ministry will not fail in picking up the bills.
“The welfare/health of every resident of Kogi State is important to this government, irrespective of class or position.
Mrs Amupitan said the life of every child was also important to the state government, irrespective of class or circumstance of birth.
Receiving the commissioner and top officials of the Ministry, Dr Jones Taiwo, who stood in for the CMD of the centre, thanked the commissioner for coming and assured her that the primary responsibility of any hospital was to save lives.
He assured the ministry officials that the FMC, Lokoja had been doing just that, and would continue to do so.
The ministry officials then settled the medical bills of twenty thousand naira (N20,000) for some children at the hospital.
