Governor Ugwuanyi of Enugu State

Mrs Monica Ugwuanyi, wife of the Enugu State Governor, has enjoined Christian mothers to always serve as role models in uprightness for the youth in the state.

Ugwuanyi made the call during her visit to St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, Uwani, Enugu, on the occasion of the 2017 Catholic Women Organisation (CWO) `Pre-August Meeting’ Conference on Friday.

The governor’s wife also emphasised the role of prayers in uplifting the society and urged women not to relent in making use of it to make success.

“Women should always pray and trust God; prayer is the master key for success in every venture.

“Pray, to avoid evil in your life and that of your family,’’ she advised.

According to her, prayer of women should not be simply to hold on to their husbands, but to bring peace and harmony to their families and Enugu State in general.

Earlier, Rev. Fr. James Ozoamalu, in his message, decried unbridled quest for material accumulation which is causing decline in morality among the youth.

“There are many criminal activities going on in the country today due to unemployment and lack of sufficient moral upbringing.

“Learn to be bold and condemn evil. Do not be afraid of that which will kill your flesh, because it will not kill your soul,’’ the cleric said.

The Chairperson of CWO of the parish, Mrs Justina Akano, commended Mrs Ugwuanyi’s commitment toward improving the lot of women and the uplifting the vulnerable in the state through her pet project – “Ugo Touch of Life Foundation (U-TOLF)”.

Akano noted that the wives of local government chairmen in the state had followed her footsteps in the endeavour to ease the burden of women.

She thanked the governor’s wife for attending the conference.

“ Ever since the inception of Pre-August Meeting Conference in our parish, we have never had such an opportunity of hosting the mother of our state in our midst,” she said.
