Kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike popularly known as Evans said on Sunday that he did not authorise the two suits filed on his behalf by a Lagos based lawyer against the police.

Channels Television said the kidnap suspect dissociated himself from the lawsuits filed by controversial lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje in Lagos last week in an exclusive interview on Sunday.
Evans had in a motion ex parte allegedly filed on his behalf last Wednesday accused the police of violation of his fundamental human right by keeping him in detention without arraigning him in court.
Respondents in the suit are the Inspector General of Police, the Nigeria Police Force, the Commissioner of Police in Lagos, and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos Command. He had in the suit urged the court to order police to arraign him in court or set him free. The Police however said they have a warrant to detain the suspect until they complete their investigations of his kidnapping activities.
The next day, the Ogungbeje, the lawyer who filed the first suit, filed another one allegedly on the instruction of the kidnap suspect. In the second suit, Evans asked the court to compel the Police to pay him the sum of N300 million as damages for subjecting him to illegal detention and media trial.
“I have no hand in any case filed against the police and I did not speak with any lawyer or my father to fill a case on my behalf. All I will say is that they should temper justice with mercy,” Channels Television quoted Evans as telling it on Sunday from police detention.

The suspect who said the lawsuits are likely to put him in more trouble was also reported as saying that even if he was released by the police, he would not go.
This, he said was because those he has kidnapped and collected millions of naira as ransom from would likely kill him.
