Sinzu: to spend two years in prison for credit card fraud

Nigerian rapper, Babalola Falemi, known in music circles as Sauce Kid and Sinzu, is to spend two years in prison in the United States for stealing $15,388 for credit card fraud.

Idaho News reported that the musician was accused of using stolen bank card numbers to manufacture plastic cards which he then used for purchases after using an automated system to change account PIN between July 23 and 26 in 2016 in court documents.

Court documents indicated that Falemi was arrested at the Boise Airport as he was about to board a flight with caught with a card encoding device and more than $6,000 in cash.

The fraudulent acts were carried out at Boise ATMs owned by Idaho Central Credit Union and at Albertsons stores in Meridian, court documents alleged.

The rapper was initially charged with conspiracy to commit bank fraud, eight counts each of bank fraud and aggravated identity theft, and possession of 15 or more fraudulent bank cards.

But he pleaded guilty to one of the counts of aggravated identity theft and the prosecutors dismissed the other charges exchange for the guilty plea.

Senior U.S. District Judge Edward J. Lodge also placed him on one year of supervised release after his prison term.
