Senate President Bukola Saraki: now a free man

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) on Wednesday declared that the Federal Government  has failed to prove charges of false asset declaration it levelled against Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Mr Danladi Umar, chairman CCT said the prosecution has failed to prove its case against the Senate President while ruling on the no-case submission filed by Saraki.

Lawyers to the Senate President’s had asked the tribunal to discharge after the prosecution led by Rotimi Jacobs called its final witness and closed it case.

Mr Umar up held the submission that the prosecution did not sufficiently prove its case against the Senate President in his ruling on Wednesday and therefore, discharged him of the charges.

The federal government had brought multiple 18 count charges of false asset declaration against Saraki on 18, April, 2015.
