DSS arrest 4 associates of Gana, Benue wanted criminal kingpin

The Department of State Services wishes to inform the public of the successes recorded in its tactical operations, some of which were planned and executed with sister agencies and targeted at kidnappers, terrorists and other high profile criminals across the country.

Nigeria’s secret police, the Department of State Services said its operatives have arrested four close associates and an informant of wanted Benue kidnap kingpin, Terwase Akwaza at various locations across Benue and Taraba States. DSS said the suspects who had continue to carry out kidnap operations in Benue and Taraba States were arrested in the course of hunting for the main Akwaza.

DSS said in a statement by Tony Opuiyo, its spokesperson that several arms and ammunition were also recovered from the suspects.

Opuiyo said, “The hunt for the notorious kidnap kingpin, Terwase AKWAZA (aka Ghana), led to the arrest of some of his close associates. For instance, on 9th June, 2017, the trio of Dondo ORSAA, Terhile MBALOHA and Teryima IHIAMBE (aka Clark) were apprehended at various locations within Katsina-Ala LGA, Benue State for their sustenance of kidnap operations across Benue and Taraba States.

“During the operation, one (1) AK-47 rifle, a 9mm Pistol, Ammunition and complete set of Army uniform were recovered from ORSAA.

He added that on 10 April,  one Terna SAPKO, an informant to the AKWAZA syndicate was arrested around the Army Barracks in Takum, Taraba State.
