2 fake soldiers nabbed in Delta

The two fake soldiers

Troops of 3 Battalion Nigerian Army on Wednesday arrested 2 impostors identified as Emejo Benedict and Onwusuluke Kelechi, who were dressed in military camouflage uniform while extorting money from commercial tricycle (KEKE NAPEP) drivers and molesting their fellow civilians in Delta State.

The impostors were arrested along Nnebisi Road, Asaba, Oshimili South Local Government Area, the Army said in a statement by its spokesperson, Brigadier General Sani Usman.

He added that the suspects have since been handed over to Nigerian Police in Asaba for prosecution.

The Army urged the public to be more vigilant and security conscious because of activities of impostors by reporting anyone claiming to be a soldier outside designated military locations to the appropriate authorities.

Specifically, Usman asked the public to take advantage of the newly established Nigerian Army Information and Call Centre to report any such issue and other security concern by calling the short code 193 using any of the telecommunication service providers in Nigeria or through email at na.callcentre@army.mil.ng
