Governor Seriake Dickson

Gov. Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa has called on parents to take advantage of the state government educational policies to provide sound and quality formal education to their children.

Dickson made the call on Tuesday in Yenagoa, while inaugurating an eight-member State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

He decried the attitude of some parents toward the education of their children, saying that the infrastructure and personnel provided by the government were good enough for learning.

Dickson urged parents, guardians and other stakeholders in the state to work towards complementing the efforts of the government.

The governor urged members of the board to work hard to effectively discharge their duties.

Mrs Flora Ebi-William, Chairperson of SUBEB, gave assurance that the board would be committed to the rebuilding of the state educational system.

The members of the board are: Mrs Flora Ebi-William, chairperson, Mr Walton Liverpool, Executive Secretary, Mr Asamowei Boms, Nnamdi Egbo, Felix Obi, Toinpre Sinclair, ‎Tam Alari and Egere Ste.
