An Igbosere Chief Magistrate court, Lagos on Tuesday, ordered the remand of a property developer, Felix Ezeamama, in Prisons Custody over alleged armed roberry, attempted murder and unlawful damages.
The court presided over by Chief Magistrate Abimbola Komolafe (Mrs) gave the remand order of the suspect, following a remand application brought and argued before the court by the Officer-in-Charge Legal Department of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Departing (SCIID), Panti-Yaba, Lagos, Mr. Effiong Asuquo, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).
In urging the court to remand the suspect, the prosecutor informed the court that application was brought pursuant to Section 264 (1,2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos state 2015, which he said to enable the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPO) to issue legal advice on-the-run allegations leveled against the suspect.
The suspect, according to the prosecutor, in a charge attached with the remand application, is to face charges bordering on armed robbery, attempted murder and willful and unlawful damage.
At the Tuesday’s hearing of the remand application, CSP Asuquo had informed the court that the suspect with others now at large, while armed with guns, cutlasses, sledge hammers and other dangerous weapons, invaded a property located at 41 Alfred Rewane Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, and demolished it.
He also told that in the course of demolishing the said property, the suspect attempted to kill one Alhaja Halima Abubakar, and her 91 years old mother, and also carted away £7000, $5000 and N5million as well as some jewellery.
CSP Asuquo, further informed the suspect had on several occasions invaded police invitations on the allegations, but was recently arrested following an arrest warrant issue against by chief Magistrate O. O. Oshin, of the same court.
He therefore urged the court to grant the application.
After listened to the submission if the prosecutor, the presiding magistrate, Abimbola Komolafe (Mrs.), ordered the remand of the suspect in prison custody for the first 30 days pending when the DPP will issue an advice on the matter.
The matter has been adjourned till June 30.
