The Bishop of Ijumu Anglican Diocese, Dr. Ezekiel Ikupolati has urged Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to sign the 2017 appropriation bill without further delay.
Ikupolati said the signing was long overdue as Nigerians are yearning for improved living conditions. He gave the advice at Iyara, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State at a news conference to mark the 9th anniversary of the Diocese.
In his words: “Accent to the Budget should not be delayed and full implementation must commence. I want to advise the Federal Government to constitute a Post Budget Committee to monitor and supervise the implementation of the budget.”
He urged Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State to pay salaries of workers to reduce poverty level in the state, nnd charged churches in the country to rise up and contribute to nation building, affirming that the role of the church in nation building cannot be overemphasized.
The Bishop also enjoined Christian community to dwell in unity and avoid segregation, “The church of today is too conscious of denominations. There is one God, one spirit and there is need for us to come under one umbrella and speak with one voice.” he noted.
The clergy man maintained that although many successes have been achieved since his appointment, the diocese has been faced with financial challenges and pointed out that the Diocese will soon commence production of Satchete Water .
He also said the diocese had embarked on various programmes aimed at boosting spiritual and physical growth of children, youths, women and men to enable them contribute to the growth of Christianity and the society.
He disclosed that as part of activities marking the 9th anniversary of the diocese, a stakeholders meeting will hold on May 26th with a fund raising slated for May 27th for the completion of the Bishop’s Court and Pure Water factory.
