PHOTOS: Osinbajo presides over FEC meeting in Buhari’s absence

Contrary to expectations, President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday was again absent at the weekly meeting of the Nigerian cabinet, popularly known as Federal Executive Council, FEC.

However, his deputy, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo promptly took charge of the meeting which was still ongoing as at the time of filing in this story.

No reason has been advanced by the Presidency yet for the absence of Buhari from the weekly meeting.

This is the third consecutive FEC meeting the President would be absent from since he returned to Nigeria from a medical vacation in the United Kingdom on March 10.

The President has also not been seen in public in the past three weeks.  The absence from the weekly meetings as well as from public events has led to speculations about his state of his health.

Yesterday, Aisha, the wife of the President said in a series of tweets that the health of her husband is not as bad as being perceived.

The President was also reported to have met a minister and the Group Managing Director of NNPC in his office yesterday.

But there was no picture or footage of the meetings, contrary to the practice of the Presidency. This has further fuelled rumours that Buhari may be in a very bad shape health wise.

Some Nigerians are already asking the President to take medical leave to take care of his health.
