A section of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu’s palace at the Iga Iduganran area of Lagos Island was on Tuesday gutted by fire.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the fire started from an air conditioner in an apartment inside the palace.
The fire started at about 1.30pm after which Lagos State Fire Service firefighters attached to Iganmu were contacted.
The firefighters battled the fire for about an hour before finally putting it out.
NAN reports that the firefighters from the Lagos State Fire Service, Sari Iganmu and Ilupeju stations, responded swiftly to put out the fire.
A senior emergency official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident, saying the fire had been put out. (NAN)
