The HoG Awards Board has finally revealed the identity of the governor to receive its Most Performing Governor of the Year Award. Three weeks ago, Mr. Rupert Ojenuwa, the Chief Executive Officer of the Hall of Grace Awards briefed the press disclosing that the 7th edition of the HoG Awards which holds at the Civic Center on Sun 21st of May, 2017 is in celebration of Nigeria’s democracy and that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will be honored and celebrated with an ALL TIME AWARD for his contribution to the nation’s democracy for upwards of 20 years.

Another key awardee of the day is the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Sen. Jibrilla Bindow. Whilst addressing the press, the CEO quoted Martin Luther King Jnr. His word ‘It was Martin Luther King Jnr who said, ‘if a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well’. Governor Bindow fits perfectly the picture Martin Luther King Jr tried to paint because he is doing the work of governance extremely well. All you need to do is visit Adamawa State and you won’t agree any less.

According to Ojenuwa: “Governor Bindow was one of the governors who actually hit the ground running. If you deny anything about him, you can’t deny the fact that he has extreme passion for the people of his state and that passion has seen him transform Yola to a modern city. If you check the before and after picture of Adamawa state, you will discover massive infrastructural development as well as healthcare development amongst other things.”

He added: “The HoG Awards has grown so much in credibility and we have had cause to withdraw awards on one or two occasion because we saw a bit of inconsistency in the persons concerned. One of the criteria for picking governors in Nigeria is not only performance. We also check performance with resources available and if you did that with Biondow, you will agree that there is scarcely any governor who has done more than he has with respect to infrastructural development.”

“The HoG 7TH Anniversary has four major awardees beginning with the phenomenal Atiku Abubakar, Gov. Bindow of Adamawa State, Waheed Olagunju of BoI and Wilma Aguele.

“HoG Awards was put together by the HoG Magazine under the Chairmanship and Grand Custodianship of a former Honorable Minister of Information, Hon. Chief (Dr) Alex Akinyele in 2009 to serve as a celebration platform for deserving persons. It has continued to rise in profile ever since with many notable Nigerians like; Babatunde Fashola, Abdulfatai Ahmed, Aliko Dangote, Folorunsho Alakija, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, Captain Idris Wada, Sen. Musa Kwankwaso, Otunba Gbenga Daniel and a host of others honored.”
