Ex Gov. Oshiomhole

Immediate past Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has accused the Edo state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), of shifting attention from the monumental embarrassment it received the state election petition tribunal to the content of his the impromptu speech he made.

Oshiomhole who made the accusation while reacting to allegation by the PDP over his comment on the tribunal judgement which affirmed the election of Mr. Godwin Obaseki as Governor of Edo state, challenged the party to make public of the recording of his voice to support their claim.

Chairman of the PDP in the State, Chief Dan Orbih, had accused the former Governor of referring to the judgement delivered last Friday by the chairman of the tribunal, Justice Ahmed Badamasi, as “Mama Akara” judgement.

Orbih who insinuated that there was more toOshiomhole’s statement, challenged him to explain what he meant by calling the tribunal ruling as ‘Mama Akara’ judgement.

But the former Governor in a statement by his spokesman, Victor Oshioke, said the PDP desperately shifted attention from the content of a comprehensive and well-articulated judgement.ⁿ

“This ‘Mama Akara’ hullabaloo is a cheap attempt by PDP to cover up the monumental embarrassment it received on Friday 14th April 2017, from the judgement delivered by the Edo Governorship Election Petition tribunal sitting in Benin City.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole did not refer to the judgement of the tribunal as a ‘Mama Akara’ judgement as Edo PDP leadership is striving strenuously to insinuate.

“Rather, it is the petition filed by the PDP and its candidate which Comrade Oshiomhole referred to as frivolous, baseless and a ‘Mama Akara error of judgement’.

“It is pitiable that the Edo PDP leadership is trying desperately to shift attention from the content of a comprehensive, well-articulated judgement delivered by the tribunal to the content of an impromptu speech made by Comrade Oshiomhole.”

The statement said the action was a clear indication that it will take a long time for Edo PDP to finally get over its nightmarish obsession with the name “Oshiomhole,” who it said demystified the godfather phenomenon and freed Edo people from its stranglehold.
