Gunmen kill apple seller in Benin

Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers, have allegedly shot and killed a middle-aged man, simply identified as Mr. Gideon.
The incident occurred on Thursday night at his resident 7B, Egbede street, off New Lagos Road, in Ego local government area of Edo state.
The victim allegedly met his death at about 10 pm when on his way out of his apartment to ease himself, ran into the gun-wielding men who lurked around his residence, after dispossessing him of his cell phones and money.
According to an eyes witness account, the apple seller had collected money from his customers in the day, with which was to buy the following day (today), from Lagos.
It was also gathered that the robbers raided other buildings on the street, robbing their victims of their money and other valuables.
The hoodlums however operated successfully before the arrival of the operatives of Ohkoro police division at the scene of the incident.
The State Police Command PRO, Moses Nkombe, could not be reached for comment.
It was however gathered that the corpse of the victim has been deposited at the Central Hospital mortuary by men of Okhoro police division.
