Senator Isiaka Adeleke, currently representing Osun West Senatorial District in the upper chamber of Nigeria’s National Assembly is dead.

Adeleke, popularly known as ‘Serubawon’ due to his flamboyant political campaign style has represented the district twice in the past before he won the election for his current tenure on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in 2015.

Adeleke died early Sunday at Bikets Hospital in Oshogbo the Osun state capital after suffering a heart attack according to family sources.

He was 62 years.

Adeleke was elected governor of the then newly created Osun State in 1992.

As a governor,  he was credited with achievements like the establishment of a polytechnic at Iree, a college of technology at Esa-Oke and the completion of the Osun State Broadcasting Corporation among others.

He was first elected to represent Osun West Senatorial District on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party in  2007.

It was believed that he was preparing to contest Osun State governorship election scheduled for 2018.
